SCSI-Beacon Skill Tree Overhaul
1 Overview
This combat and gameplay overhaul mod pack transforms Skyrim into a deeply strategic action RPG, centered on a sophisticated, animation-driven combat system that integrates a 5-hit combo structure, unique weapon skills, and parry, assassination, and evasion mechanics, all while maintaining broad compatibility with other action frameworks. Beyond combat, the mod significantly expands character progression with new paths like the Bard and Mechanic, overhauls crafting with artifact reforging and invisible helmets, and rebalances core attributes, armor, and perks to ensure a smoother growth curve that rewards skillful play over grinding, ultimately creating a more dynamic and immersive experience from early to late game.
2 The combat system
Features a rich combo system comprised of the BFCO combo system and perk-unlocked combat skills. Ranged bows and crossbows also incorporate various combat skills including melee, hit-and-run, and area-of-effect attacks. Based on the original action system, it’s easy to install without requiring tools like FNIS and is compatible with other action systems such as MCO, Skysa, and ABR.
3 Combo System:
Continuous basic attacks are counted in 5-hit cycles. After the 1st-4th basic attacks, pressing the heavy attack button will trigger one of the following heavy attack animations: A, B, C, or D. After the 2nd-5th light/heavy attacks, pressing E will trigger a “Powerful Heavy Attack,” used to reset the combo count or trigger a special attack. Allows users to customize follow-up animations using DAR. < *Compatibility Note: When using mco/Skysa/ABR, this function will be replaced by the mco/Skysa/ABR combo system.>
Combat Skill System : Building upon the combo system, using the left and right mouse buttons in combination with directional, dash, and jump keys allows for the creation of even more moves, complete with special effects such as control, area-of-effect attacks, sword auras, and dashes. Two-handed weapons, one-handed weapons, bows, crossbows, and shields each have their own unique combat skills. See the move list below for details. < *Compatibility Note: Correctly recognizes the combo systems of mco/Skysa/ABR>
Parry System : A parry-based skill system, modeled after the parry-execution system in Dark Souls. Its activation method is more suited to the Skyrim game environment. A timed parry triggers a parry (effective against both melee and spell attacks). Parrying a melee attack allows you to perform an “execution,” dealing massive damage and knocking down the opponent. Parrying spell attacks directly reflects the spell.
Assassination System : Action-based skills, including flashy, animated assassinations (effective only against human targets), ranged teleport assassinations, continuous assassinations, and forced assassinations during combat. Combat assassinations have a cooldown period to maintain balance.
Evasion System : Action-based skills, including traditional roll dodge and the unique teleportation dodge. After unlocking advanced perks, teleportation dodge can be used as a starting move to derive advanced attack skills such as “Shadow Strike,” “Shadow Dance,” and “Wind Step.”
Stance System : Melee weapons have three combat stances: “Normal,” “Weapon Charge,” and “Potential Unleashed” (advanced stances require perks to unlock). Advanced stances provide damage buffs and change combo efficiency and combat style (see move list for details), but also come at a cost (reduced stamina recovery). You can switch between combat stances at any time depending on the needs of the battlefield.
DIY: Allows advanced players to customize combo attacks and combat animations in different stances using DAR codes. See the Magic Skyrim Skill Tree DIY Action Guide (magicskyrim.com) for details. Features
Necromancer Enhancement: The Advanced Summoning perk enhances the AI of humanoid resurrected necromancers, allowing them to trade items with players and automatically equip advanced weapons and gear given by the player. Bard : A new job path with a dedicated instrumental music branch in the Eloquence skill tree. Learning to play various instruments allows you to use these skills in negotiation, trade, and combat; different instruments have different negotiation and combat attributes.
Mechanical Legion : A new career path with a dedicated Mechanic branch in the Forging skill tree. Players can deploy, upgrade, and repair turrets using only a hammer to complete battles. The turrets can produce Dwarven Mechanical Soldiers, and the ultimate skill “Molten Core” can temporarily upgrade these soldiers into powerful Dwarven Centurions. Players can then command their Mechanical Legion to victory simply by taking command.
Artifact Reforging : A max-level blacksmith can reforge a Demon Artifact into a top-tier, unenchanted item with Demon/Dragonbone attributes (appearance unchanged, called Mythic equipment). It can be freely enchanted, forged, and enhanced, and can also be reforged (removing old enchantments to welcome new ones). A max-level enchanter can learn special enchantments on artifacts and rare equipment (without destroying the equipment). With these steps, you can obtain a Dragonbone-level Dawnbreaker and simultaneously enchant it with “Dawnbreaker” and “Chance to One-Hit Kill” to accompany you through the late game.
Hidden Helmet : After unlocking the “Crafting” perk in the Blacksmithing tree, you can craft transparent (invisible) helmets of various materials, including light armor, heavy armor, and cloth armor. Enjoy set bonuses and the freedom of flowing hair. 100% stable without scripts.
4 Basic settings
Players’ initial attributes vary depending on their race. For example, warriors have more initial health, mages have more mana, and so on. To adapt to the overall change in the game environment, the initial total attributes have been increased from 300 points to 400 points.
The penalty for mana and stamina regeneration speed in combat has been reduced, allowing you to regenerate mana (2% initial per second) and stamina (3.5% initial per second) faster in battle. Enchantments that enhance regeneration speed become more effective. There are no enchantments that reduce resource consumption, nor potions that enhance forging and enchanting abilities. The effects of forging and enchanting have been weakened to prevent stat imbalances in the late game. Players don’t need to deliberately grind for support skills to become stronger; they can become stronger simply by playing normally.
After learning the relevant perks, skill level and current stamina will affect physical attack power, while skill level and current mana will affect spell power or duration. This means that mana and stamina will become the standard for measuring combat power, while also providing characters with unlimited room for growth.
Heavy and light armor are now more distinct. Heavy armor grants extra health and true defense points (requires a perk to unlock), making it far tougher than light armor but slower. Light armor, on the other hand, provides extra stamina, speed, and attack power (requires a perk to unlock), allowing it to dominate the battlefield with maximum speed and damage.
The role of robes has been further enhanced, with more perks providing additional benefits to them. You can find these perks in the Transmutation, Destruction, Conjuration, Illusion, Restoration, and Enchanting trees. Balance Explanation
Every perk has become more valuable. The three legendary and overpowered perks from the original game have been nerfed. High-value early-game perks allow players to quickly rise to the top in the early stages, while stable yet progressively powerful advanced perks prevent players from becoming too strong in the late game. The growth curve gradually flattens out in the late game, but it doesn’t stagnate.
